WHAT ARE SENIOR APARTMENTS?
Living in senior homes or senior apartments is comparable to living in traditional houses or apartments except that they are age-restricted and are designed for the older adult age group (ages 55 years old and up). With this said, a good senior apartment complex must offer both accessibility and a sense of community to all its residents while being fully compliant with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations for age discrimination. Since senior homes are designed to accommodate elderly needs, the buildings will have limited or no stairs, handrails in bathrooms, and areas that are made accessible to residents with very limited mobility.
